Mick graduated from The University of Bath in 1991 with an honours degree in Business Administration, and has spent his whole career in healthcare. He started as a medical sales representative for pharma giant Merck Sharpe and Dohme, before spending 13 years with medical device manufacturer Mölnlycke Health Care. Mick joined Mölnlycke as a UK salesperson, and ended as the Marketing Director of the global business, based in Sweden. Mick re-shaped the product and brand strategies of Mölnlycke and helped the company owners achieve a very successful sale of the business.
Mick moved back to the UK in 2008 and joined Diaverum as Managing Director for the UK. He has led the transformation of the business from a minor player to a highly valued partner of the NHS, delivering life sustaining care to more than 3,000 patients across a national network of dialysis centres. Mick is responsible for steering the UK operation to deliver outstanding clinical outcomes, patient experience, employee engagement and financial performance.
Explaining his dedication to the healthcare sector, Mick states that his two key drivers are to deliver commercial success while making a positive contribution to society. It sounds cliché, but I genuinely need to feel that through my work I am making the world a better place, in whatever small ways possible. I love to grow businesses and deliver excellent returns for investors, but it needs to be by doing work that improves the lives of those impacted by the business. I think thats why Ive always been attracted to healthcare, and these twin objectives have always steered my career choices.
