Menai Owen-Jones CEO of The Pituitary Foundation About Menai Owen-Jones Menai Owen-Jones, a previous CEO Today UK Award winner in 2019, was appointed as CEO of The Pituitary Foundation in 2011; a UK-wide health charity supporting people with conditions of their pituitary gland. Over the past ten years Menai has led the transformational growth and development of the organisation. Menai is a Chartered Director and a graduate of Cardiff University Law School. She has contributed widely to the UK charity sector for over twenty years. Prior to joining The Pituitary Foundation, she worked for The Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID) and other household name national and regional charities such as: Breast Cancer Care; Hope House Children’s Hospices and Nightingale House Hospice. Menai is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) and holds a number of non-executive director positions and advisory committee positions including: Cardiff Metropolitan University, Race Council Cymru and Samaritans Cymru. Until recently Menai was also a trustee of the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (ACEVO). Menai has broad interests, networks and wide-ranging experiences across a number of disciplines and organisations. She is a mentor and passionate about civil society, social change, equality, learning and leadership. We are a leading charity globally in the field of pituitary disease, empowering people with a pituitary condition and working towards greater awareness. With a team of 140 volunteers and 10 staff, in 2020 we supported more patients than ever in our twenty-seven-year history during the pandemic, who were seeking reassurance and help. Each year we make a positive difference to the lives of thousands of people through our services and work towards improving the care of pituitary patients, many of whom face significant barriers, and challenges, due to the lack of understanding and awareness of pituitary and rare diseases generally. Our future organisation strategy is focused on developing key areas such as: digital engagement; reaching more diverse communities and younger people; growing our volunteering networks; developing our education work and increasing our policy and influencing work, with the ultimate aim of improving care for pituitary patients and their families.
