Founded in 1990 with the vision to create a ‘one stop shop’ for total engineered solutions, Alan has grown adi from a one-person electrical engineering business operated from his own home, to a multi-disciplinary group comprising 17 companies, more than 30 service divisions and 11 regional locations across the UK and Ireland. A former Instrumentation Apprentice, Alan understands the importance of passing on skills to the next generation. To help combat the industry wide skills shortage, he has created opportunities to enable young people to gain experience in the world of engineering. The Group launched its Apprentice Academy in 2014 and created the UK’s first engineering Pre-Apprentice Programme in partnership with North Bromsgrove High School which launched in September 2016. Alongside his role at adi Group Alan is also a Non- Executive Director of the global sustainable plastics manufacturer Aquapak Polymers - a business in which he has played a pivotal role in developing. He is also a member of the Made In The Midlands Skills Advisory Board championing and sharing best practice with manufacturing companies across the Midlands to help combat the engineering skills shortage. He also serves as part of the Business In The Community West Midlands Leadership team where he provides strategic guidance and support to BITC to augment their social and environmental objectives, nationally and locally. Under Alan’s watchful eye, the adi Group continues to grow from strength to strength offering wide range of services and engineering solutions to large UK and Ireland blue chip manufacturers. Alan attributes his business successes to a passion and love of Formula 1 racing which he has successfully incorporated into the adi brand’s vision and business model to create a winning team. www.adiltd.co.uk
